Exclusive Benefits

Here at The Other Place, we want to provide you with the best possible experience for your vacation at the river. That’s why we offer on-site tube rentals and free lifejackets to all our guests. We’ve partnered with an independent river shuttle service that takes our guests up to the beginning of the river to give them a longer float down the Comal (about 2 hours).

Due to our unique location on the river, we have our own private entrance and exit to the Comal. The peninsula location allows guests to get in on one side, float around the horseshoe, and get out on the other side of the property (about 30 minutes). At the point of the peninsula, we have a small enclosure on the river that we call the wading pool or baby pool. It’s usually around 2 feet deep (all dependent on the water levels of the river, subject to change) and has a smooth bottom. There is built-in seating around the pool as well as picnic tables nearby.

The Common Area

The Common Area is right in the middle of all of the cottages on the Resort property. It is a spacious grassy lawn that has tree-shaded picnic tables and BBQ pits that are perfect for a family dinner and gatherings. We also have a horseshoe pit and a full-size volleyball court. And for the little ones, we have a playground that’s fully equipped with a playscape, sandbox, seesaws, and swings.

The Comal River

The Comal River is nothing short of a dream: crystal clear water that is spring-fed from the Edwards Aquifer and is a consistent 72 degrees year-round. Refreshing in the summer, and warm enough for a swim in the winter! It is 2.5 miles long and is the shortest navigable river in the world. We are located on the best point of this pristine river.

Tubing on the Comal

RENTALS
We offer great rates on daily tube rentals ($5 standard, $8 with bottom), with private river access and shuttle service (additional cost). We accept cash, credit cards, or you may charge it to your room. Complimentary life jackets are available upon request. An air compressor is available for those who wish to bring their own tubes.

SHUTTLE
We offer a shuttle which will take you and your gear up to the New Braunfels Tube Chute, which is located upstream of the Resort. You can then enjoy a 1 1/2-2 hour float back to the private exit on our property. Actual float time may vary depending on the swiftness of the river current. Please check with the office for shuttle schedule and prices.
